| OTHER WAYS YOU CAN GIVE
Donate stock
Stock gifts to the Muste Institute are always welcome. If you are
holding stocks or mutual funds which have appreciated in value, there may
be tax advantages to donating them. Please contact the Muste Institute staff
at 212-533-4335 or info@ajmuste.org so we can provide you with the necessary
details.
Make a gift from your IRA account
If you are at least 70-1/2 years old, the Emergency Economic Stabilization
Act allows you to make tax-free distributions of up to $100,000 per year
in 2008 and 2009 from your Individual Retirement Account (IRA) to qualified
charitable organizations such as the Muste Institute. You may contact your
IRA administrator to request a direct rollover to the Muste Institute. (These
gifts are not tax-deductible, but because you do not withdraw the money yourself
it does not count as income for your federal tax returns.)
If you choose to donate stock or make a gift from your IRA
account, please contact us with your donation details so we can acknowledge
your generosity promptly.
Designate a Bequest
If you are making up your will, we hope you will consider leaving
a bequest to the Muste Institute to ensure the continuation of our work.
A suggested simple wording to use in making bequests is: "I bequeath
dollars ($ ) or ____ percent of my estate to the A.J. Muste Memorial Institute,
Inc., a charitable, not-for-profit organization located at 339 Lafayette
Street, New York, New York, 10012, to be used for its general purposes."
Bequests can also be directed toward a specific purpose,
project or issue area. Through a bequest, longtime Muste Institute supporters
Harrop and Ruth Freeman helped us establish the Freeman Internship endowment,
which since 1995 has provided a stipend for student interns at the War Resisters
League, the largest secular pacifist group in the US, and where A.J. Muste
himself was principally involved at the end of his life.
Create an Endowment or Special Fund
If you are interested in making a gift of at least $10,000 toward
a particular purpose or issue area that coincides with our mission to support
the nonviolent movement for social justice, the Muste Institute can work
with you to develop endowments or special funds.
In 1994, several donors helped establish the International
Nonviolence Training Fund, which continues to make grants to nonviolence
training projects outside the US. Annual gifts from a generous donor have
supported nonviolence work in Latin America through our NOVA Fund since 1999.

special funds or other planned giving options, we encourage you to contact
